Is Lack of Good Sleep Standing in your way of Weight Loss?

There are numerous factors which influence our weight loss goals. Among some of the most important are: stress, lack of physical activity, poor diet, and poor sleeping habits. For the most part, people tend to tackle two of these factors: exercise and healthy nutrition. The other culprits are left unresolved. That is why a lot of people who exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet are still not achieving their weight loss goals. Taking care of all aspects of weight loss is very important; in this article I will discuss the importance of a good night's sleep.

When we don't get enough good sleep, one of the hormones which our bodies produce is called Ghrelin. This particular hormone stimulates hunger and studies have shown that people who do not get an adequate amount of sleep have higher levels of this hunger hormone. Leptin is yet another hormone that is associated with our sleeping pattern. This particular hormone is produced by fat cells and it is responsible for regulating body weight and metabolism. Furthermore, Leptin is the body's natural appetite suppressant as it is responsible for a decrease in appetite. However, people who don't get enough good sleep have much lower levels of Leptin. Last but certainly not least is Cortisol. When we don't get enough rest our body becomes stressed and produces this particular hormone. This hormone is responsible for an increase in appetite and eventually weight gain.

So as you can see getting an adequate amount of sleep is crucial to attaining quick weight loss. There are many ways that people deal with a lack of good sleep; a sleep aid and various other herbal remedies are responsible for getting our bed time back on schedule.
