Have you been feeling crabby lately? The reason behind your mood swings could be poor sleep.
Our everyday chores, such as work, household responsibilities, and child care make it difficult for some people to
fall asleep and get an adequate amount of rest at night. Once we put the kids to bed, instead of doing the same we end up catching up on missed chores well into the night. Furthermore, with our current economic status, financial worries alone can keep us up half the night. So is there anything we can do to improve our sleeping habits
and fight off
sleep
disorders?
Although we may not be able to get rid of all of the factors which interfere with our sleep, we definitely can create a peaceful environment and adapt certain lifestyle changes which will help us obtain a better night's rest. First and foremost you should always go to bed and wake up at the same time, including weekends. When you stick to a specific schedule
of sleep hours, you strengthen your body's sleep-wake cycle which makes it easier to fall asleep at the same time each night. Second of all, remember not to drink or eat large amounts before bedtime. Most people have their last light snack before 7 PM. If you choose to consume a light snack prior to 7, be sure to avoid spicy and fatty foods. These two foods can flare up heartburn, make it harder to
achieve rem sleep, or putting an end to restful slumber. You should also limit your liquid intake as too much water can lead to numerous awakenings throughout the night. Making your bedroom cool, dark and quiet is the last step. Use eye covers, ear plugs,
or whatever it takes in order to obtain that peaceful environment.
These are just a few tips to help you sleep better. There are various other all natural sleep aids and herbal remedies which can help us fall asleep and rest well throughout the night. Getting a good night's sleep can ensure healthy energy, quick
weight loss, improved mood, and general wellbeing. |
